Pat Robertson has a problem with priorities. When he is discussing the violent islamic religion, he does not care who calls him names, he will not back down. Now, I live in the Caribbean & I know that Haiti is the voodoo capital of the region. I know that all the island nations have this steeped into the culture combining the occult & christianity.
I know that the belief that Haiti is cursed is widespread, even among Haitians. There are many people who are praying & fasting in Haiti to break this curse. Just before Aristide was ousted, he named voodoo as the official religion again. Violence & mayhem erupted almost instantly. Troops had to move in to keep some semblance of peace. I predicted that things would get worse when I heard this statement from Aristide (who taught liberation theology like Jeremiah Wright) & things got worse.
What bible believing christian thinks that this is a blessed country? If you believe the bible then Gods' wrath is on Haiti. If you are a Calvinist ,like Robertson, you might back away from that. I know that around the world black people have a serious problem with repenting. Nobody wants to tell them they need to. The great reformation, I gather from listening to pompous teachers full of heresy, tried to modernize the image of a very barbaric old testament God. Pat talks about how violent Islam is, but,in truth, the bible is filled with God ordering the death of whole nations & sending the Israelites to do it. He even punished them severely for disobeying. Has God changed, is my question?
He told Israel through His prophet, 'I took the life of other people so you might live'. He told the army of Sennacherib that came against Judah when the king of Assyria bragged of all the nations he destroyed it was He who ordained, planned & brought this destruction to pass by using him as a tool. He made a statement that always tickles me, "He will not enter the city nor shoot one arrow in here!" Has God changed?
These rituals in Haiti come from African roots, why do you think most hedonistic cultures no longer exist? Why are the sons of Ham (dark races) always oppressed? The curse on Ham, was that he would be a slave to both of his brothers. That being the case, it is time to stop looking angrily at the white people & condemning them for every word that shows you your sin, as a prejudice statement. It is time for black people to back peddle. It is time for blacks to repent. Denying Gods' wrath will not stop it.
The Jewish people got upset with the movie,'The Passion of Christ'. They got upset when Robertson quoted the bible in saying that they were cursed because of their rejection of Jesus. The bible says that destruction was coming to Jerusalem because of this. Should we apologize for what we know the bible says! The only real question - is the bible true or false.
Obama hushed theologians on the right by asking which part of the bible should be taken seriously in deciding policy when the bible supports slavery. Yes!! God said to the Ethiopians to the Jews & others they would be slaves. To see the whole picture we need to realize that slavery was a part of every nations history & still exists in Africa. God made it a law that slaves were to go free if they were injured by their masters.
The bible says God Himself brings on natural disasters. All the 'evils' of this world is supposed to cause us to consider our ways because God is going to send His Son back to judge every man. This earth, that has become the new god for many, was made corrupt when man fell. Paul scoffs at those who would rather worship the creation rather than the Creator because they do not want to know God & turn from sin. Read Romans chapter 1 & 2 not just a few scriptures here & there.
As that comedian who made a career out of mocking Sarah Palin said on SNL, these are 'signs of the end'. Many are saying ,as they did in the old testament, 'do not prophesy to us'! They first snickered at the thought that signs were coming to pass, such as more earthquakes & destruction in greater frequency & more diverse places. I heard a few meteorologist deny this on cable years back. They said it is just that more people are moving into areas where nobody lived before but the earthquakes were always there. Now , it can not be the Word being fulfilled , it must be global warming.
I can not see how Pat could be so apologetic. I watched him on Thursday & saw his eyes puffed with the signs of someone who was crying all night. I knew it was over that statement. I went on the internet to see what was said. I read that Obama gave a statement!!
Are you kidding? Obama thinks it silly to say you as a human could possibly know what God is thinking but he knows what is appropriate for a spiritual leader to say on a religious program to like minded spiritual thinkers. How does he get in that?
